Jean B. Goss, 87, Oblong, IL “The Bend”, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday January 26, 2019 at Newton Care Center, Newton, IL.
Jean was born in Jasper County, IL on October 10, 1931. She was the daughter of Ray and Margaret (Bergbower) Yager. She married Gerald F. Goss on April 11, 1948. He preceded her in death on September 1, 2018.
Jean was a lifelong farm wife working the farm with her husband Gerald. She was a member of the South Bend Congregational Christian Church in the Bend. She enjoyed her flower gardens, making quilts and anything to do with Christmas. Jean especially enjoyed the time that she spent with her family and watching it grow through the years.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Celina Goss of Flat Rock, IL and Rick and Kimberly Goss of The Bend; two daughters and sons-in-law Susan and Steve Steber of Dundas, IL and Vicki and Jerry Rubsam of Newton, IL; eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great –grandchildren: one great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law.
Preceding Jean in death are her parents; husband; great-grandson Evan Rubsam, one sister and brother-in-law Madeline and Joe Goss and three brothers Francis Yager, Florent “Friday” Yager and Paul Yager.
A Celebration of Jean’s Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday January 29, 2019 at the Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, IL. Burial will follow in the South Bend Cemetery next to her husband. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family requests that an expression of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to the Bend Community Club with envelopes at or may be mailed to the Pulliam Funeral Home P.O.
